Word Scramble Maker
Enter your words, one per line. You get each word with its letters mixed up, an answer key for the host, and checks counted again from the finished puzzles. Print the puzzles and the answer key separately, and copy the link to open the same word scramble later.
How the puzzles are made
Each word's letters are put in a random order. In a phrase, each word is mixed up on its own, and the spaces and hyphens stay where they are; apostrophes are left out. The page aims to give each word a puzzle that differs from the word itself and from the other words in your list, and the checks below count puzzles that match their answer or another word, so you can see what you got. Some words can't be mixed up that way, such as a single letter, a word made of one letter repeated, or on when no is also in your list. The page says which words it left out and why.
The seed sets the random order. The same words, settings, and seed give the same word scramble, so a copied link opens the same one. This page uses version 1 of the word scramble rules.
What the checks count
After the puzzles are made, a separate count reads the finished puzzles and answers again, starting from your word list. It counts puzzles whose letters, spaces, or hyphens don't match their answer, puzzles that are the same as their answer or another word in your list, and words left out that could have been mixed up. It also counts the words in your list that each puzzle could spell. When your list has words with the same letters, such as listen and silent, a puzzle can have more than one answer, and the page shows which. Words outside your list aren't counted.
Limits
You can enter up to 100 lines of words. Only the letters A to Z can be scrambled, so words with numbers or accented letters are pointed out and left out of the puzzles.
How the games are made and checked explains the checks and how links and versions work.
